POWEROUT
The Power Ezy-Out

Left-hand drill bits that work with your power drill.

  • For use in removing normal right hand threads.
  • 50-80% of broken bolts will loosen and come out simply by drilling in reverse.
  • Powerout™ is a left-hand drill system designed to take advantage of this effect.
  • You simply drive them anti-clockwise using a reversible drill.
  • As you drill, you drive broken bolts and studs out.

Diamohard™ Starter Burr: Part Number DS-0104

A special hard rotary burr used for getting a centre on hard materials before using Powerout. Included in all Powerout sets.

How to Use Powerout to Remove Broken Bolts

Start by getting a centre BEFORE attempting Powerout™:

  • - Use the side of the Diamohard™ burr (supplied) to flatten any jagged surface.
  • - Then use the burr (end on) to make a central depression.
  • - NOTE: The burr must be driven clockwise.

Make sure Pow--er--Out™ is sharp before use. This increases the chance of successful backout.

  • - If necessary, sharpen it on a normal grinding wheel using the same methods as for ordinary HSS drill bits.

Do NOT use coolant or cutting compound.

Use very slow speeds (e.g. 200 to 500 RPM).

  • - Where possible, fixture the job and use a drill press or milling machine.
  • - Breakage and "off centre" are more likely in handheld jobs.
