Important Application Notes

  • Self-Locking Design: Loc-in-Sert is a self-locking solid bushing insert used for repairing oversized or previously repaired threads
  • Standard Threads: Loc-in-Serts have standard UNC or metric exterior threads - use ordinary taps and drills on hand in most workshops
  • Material: Standard Loc-in-Serts are made from carbon steel. Grade 303 stainless steel inserts are available in most sizes
  • Loctite Bonding: During manufacture, a band of "micro-encapsulated" Loctite is applied to the outside threads. The twisting action of fitting automatically breaks these micro capsules and activates the locking process
  • Replaceable Threads: The Loctite bond secures the insert during its useful life. When the thread becomes worn, the bond can be fairly easily broken and the insert removed and replaced without damaging the parent hole
  • Wearing Applications: Particularly suited for wearing threads in jigs and dies. If the internal thread becomes stripped or damaged, the insert can be easily removed and replaced with a fresh insert
  • Second Stage Repair: Useful when a second stage thread repair is needed after threads repaired once using a helical coil or Time-Sert thread insert have failed
